The greatest guitarists use their instrument as a tool for lyrical expression. Phrasing, melody, tone, feel and lyrical/vocal-like expression are key ingredients in their amazing solos. One of the true masters of the "guitar-ballad" is none other than Jeff Beck. He is by far one the greatest lyrical guitarists in history and one of my favorites. Several of my relatives on my father's side of the family were talented musicians from West Texas. My Great Grandfather was a fiddle maker, and several others in the family were solid country/bluegrass and even rock n roll musicians.
I would like to introduce you to my lovely little friend - Emihle. She is a beautiful 5-year old girl living in unbelievable conditions in Africa. She loves to sing and dance. My hope is that someday she will live long enough to come to USA to sing, dance, and most of all...smile.
